Burst Play initially began as a trial of Richmondshire Leisure Trust to aid the early development of under 5s through provision of activities for toddlers. The trial was conducted through 2011 and, after achieving considerable success, was extended for 2012.
Richmondshire Leisure Trust have thrown major support behind this addition to the Burst Activity Scheme, and this was demonstrated through the hiring of a dedicated Sport and Play Officer. These activities for toddlers will be in operation during term times and are expected to significantly improve the physical futures of all children participating.
The aim of the Burst Play activities is to improve the fundamental motor skills of under 5s while also increasing their levels of physical activity. Specialist staff have devised activities for toddlers that will improve their catching, throwing, walking and running, helping to set them up for sport in later life.
Burst Play runs in a number of different venues, ensuring that parents can find activities for toddlers in North Yorkshire to benefit the early development of their child.
