- Richmond Swimming Pool is based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, a beautiful Yorkshire Dales market town, which has a Norman Castle, Georgian architecture, a large cobbled market place, museums, monuments and an abbey. The fast flowing river Swale passes by the swimming pool offering great views from the facility, which can be accessed from the walkways close to the pool. Richmond Swimming Pool is open 7 days a week, offering different activities to locals and visitors alike. We are not just a swimming pool. We also have mini golf, footpool and table tennis all year round, with badminton and garden croquet during the summer months. Richmond Swimming Pool is an inclusive facility for all, which has a lift connecting the reception and changing village. The changing village has a family feel to the area with separate shower and toilet areas for male and female customers. The pool hall is accessed by a ramp area which leads onto the poolside where customers can either use the leaner or main pool. We have special equipment for people to use in the changing village and poolside if they have mobility problems.
Richmond Swimming Pool was officially opened on 12th May 1976 by the “Countess of Dartmouth” Raine Spencer. The swimming pool was run by Richmondshire District Council until April 2005 when the pool started to be run by Richmondshire Leisure Trust a non-profit organisation, any profits that we generate go straight back into making our facilities better, and this in turn benefits you. Richmondshire Leisure Trust strive to ensure that as many members of the community and visitors can access the swimming pool. In accordance with this goal, the swimming pool has become Dementia Friendly, as well as special equipment to help people access the pool hall and swimming pool.
